There are currently 200,000 foreign domestic workers in Lebanon, most of them women. They come from countries like the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Ethiopia, in anticipation of supporting their families back home. But what awaits them is – often times – a harsh reality of physical and sexual abuse. Suicide is the only escape from their isolation as they’re locked away and never allowed to leave the house.To rescue them, several radio stations partnered with the organization ‘Sawamninjah’ and decided to break into their employers’ homes with radio ads that were disguised as typical commercials.
