BriefExplanation

Safety Bike Radio is a radio activation on which cyclists use a DIY portable radio transmitter to communicate car drivers about their presence, avoiding traffic accidents.

Because car drivers cannot always see the cyclists (due to the blind spot, distractions or even poor illumination), the device overlaps the radio frequency on a 30 meters range, making sure drivers will hear and pay attention to the cyclists on their surroundings.

Connected to an App, the device allows users to record their own messages and even transmit live.

And the best of all: anyone can create their own Safety Bike Radio, using our common creative instructions and something every cyclist already have: the water bottle.

Safety Bike Radio is the cyclists’ voice in traffic.

EntrySummary

In Brazil, each day more and more people are riding their bikes instead of cars.

And that’s awesome.

But the streets infrastructure is still far away from a friendly environment for cyclists, resulting in hundreds of traffic accidents involving cars and bikes every month.

To help better the coexistence between car drivers and cyclists, 98 FM created Safety Bike Radio: a device that alerts drivers about the cyclists nearby, through a portable radio transmitter that overlaps the radio frequency on a 30 meters range with a warning (and possibly life saving) message.
