BriefExplanation
When our phones die, we lose control of our world. But what would happen if God's phone died? Some crazy things that have never happened before. To bring this idea to life, we created visuals from scratch that the world has never seen before, like raining fish, flying penguins, and water being pulled off the earth.
Execution
We used a broad combination of 2D and 3D effects. For example, the hyenas and car hitting scenes, we shot plates and composited them together using a camera track from our hero plate. We shot hyenas on set separately from the main actor and tracked them into his scene. A lot of CG was implemented for scenes like the raining fish, the aerial shot with the flying penguins, and the ferris wheel at the end. The entire outer space shot of earth was CG, including the astronaut. Matte paintings were created and comped for God's room, as well as the destruction of the city. Some shots required rig removal in order to achieve the effect. All CG was rendered from Maya and all compositing was done in Flame.
