Bud Light commercials have never been known for their visual scope or their subtlety of their performances. Yes, it's certainly far from subtle to have a moronic king yelling “Dilly dilly!” to his ill-equipped army or an oblivious beer vendor repeatedly yelling “Ice cold Buuuuud Light here!” in increasingly inappropriate places, but it is the direction that really makes these work: the understated performances set against the absurdity of the scenes, whether they be a medieval battle, a modern day NFL game, or a Revolutionary War hero returning from battle.
